  • Unauthorized IPTV Streaming Service - OneBoxTV - Ordered to Pay $3.8 Million in Damages and Shut Down with Permanent Injunction

On January 31, 2020, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida granted DISH Network and NagraStar (collectively “DISH”) a Final Judgment against One Box TV, LLC and Donna Fogle (collectively “OneBoxTV”). DISH filed suit against OneBoxTV in 2019 for federal claims arising out of their unauthorized retransmission of DISH’s programming on an illicit streaming service. The Court’s judgment includes a permanent injunction shutting down the OneBoxTV service, as well as an award of $3.8 million in statutory damages under Section 605(e)(4) of the Federal Communications Act. DISH continues to investigate and take action against those responsible for trying to circumvent the companies’ security system in order to gain unauthorized access to DISH programming, as well as those selling products or services that facilitate unauthorized access to that programming.
