Mediaset announced that a Rome court has convicted Facebook of breaching the Italian broadcaster’s copyright after hosting unauthorised links to its content. The long-running case refers to a Facebook page set up by an anonymous user back in 2012 with links to a cartoon called Kilari that aired on Mediaset’s Italia Uno channel. According to Mediaset, the court ruled that Facebook was guilty of copyright infringement and defamation because article 14 of the EU e-commerce directive wasn’t applicable in this case.
